FUN FACTS

What is “Color Out Cancer”?

The “Color Out Cancer” part of the Trinity 5k Run/Walk is all about a color crazy day with friends and family to support and help cancer awareness with a fun twist. Each color thrown will represent a color of cancer. It’s just like wearing a cancer awareness ribbon….all over!  A human rainbow, might we say.

Do I need to be a runner to do this?
Not at all!  You can run, walk, crawl, or cartwheel if you wish! We do keep time so try to win!

How does a “Color Out Team” work compared with a solo runner?
You register as a team (5 people minimum) rather than as an individual. You can custom team name .You then get to run/walk together and help each other get really colorful through the 3.2 mile course. There is no “relay” component and team members can finish together as a unit or separately.

Can I run with a jogging stroller and my kids?
If you don't mind it getting a little colorful!  All kiddos 12 and under can register for $5!

Can I run with my dog/cat/turtle?
For the safety of our runners and animal friends, we do not allow animals at any of our races

Is there an age limit for younger runners?
No age limits! If they can cover (running, jogging, walking, strolling) the three miles of  the color course, they can absolutely participate in Trinity 5k Faith Run “Color out Cancer” race. Just remember, runners 12 and under register for $5.

What is the color made of?
The color powder used is food grade cornstarch and is 100% natural.
How strict is the “white clothing dress code” for the start of the event?
White shirts will be available in the race packet. Shorts/pants don’t need to be white, especially if it’s after Labor Day. It is really just more fun to run starting in white and ending, well…. COLORTASTIC !!!!!

How is the color administered along the course?
You will see smiling faces along the course whose main goal is to douse you in colorful powder or liquid to ensure that you look like you ran through a beautiful rainbow by the time you cross the finish line.

Does the kilometer “Color Zones” affect runner vision? Or breathing?
The color powder used at The Color Run event is food grade cornstarch and is 100% natural.  As with any substance, you want to keep it out of your eyes and our “certified” color throwers make sure to aim low as you pass by.  Some Color Runners opt to wear glasses or goggles for their eyes and use a bandana or dust mask for their nose and mouths.

What about my hair?
Ladies, if you don’t want you hair to look like Rainbow Bright, simply cover your hair with some sort of hair bonnet or shower cap and then tie your hair up in a cute, colorful scarf or a white bandana so color will still be apart of you lovely look.

Will the color ruin clothes or running shoes?
The color does mostly wash out after the event. As with anything dirty, the sooner you wash it the better. We suggest wearing items that you wouldn’t mind getting colorful.
If you would like to preserve the color in your running shirt:
Spray it with vinegar and iron it.  If you wash your shirt….the color will eventually come out.

How does the color affect the inside of cars?
Most people bring some towels for the insides of their cars or a change of clothes just in case.

Are cameras and phones safe to have in the color zones?
If you want to get shots right in the midst of the color we recommend covering cameras/phones with plastic wrap.

What if I am pregnant?
It's totally up to what you and your doctor decide.  We've see a lot of pregnant run/walker and they are the cutest ones out there!  The powder is 100% cornstarch based and even gluten free.  We recommend wearing sunglasses or goggles, and a bandana over your mouth and nose in the color zones just for extra protection.

What happens if there is bad weather?
A little rain won't stop us! It even makes the color brighter! If there are major weather warnings during the weekend of the event, check the city event webpage, and stay tuned for emails with updates.
